In situations where the borehole is liable to collapse between flot insertions the Dry Top Feed method of construction is unsuitable and Dry Bottom Feed methods are used. This still relies on the flot penetration by mass, vibration and air flush, but at design depth the flot remains in place and stone is introduced to the bore by means of a tube fixed to the flot. Stone is introduced via a skip, which is winched to a hopper at the top of the stone pipe. The stone, usually of 40mm size is compacted in stages as the flot is withdrawn.

Why use Dry Bottom Feed Vibro Stone Columns?

when boreholes will not remain open

What types of soils can be treated?

very soft waterlogged clays

loose granular soils where a high water table is present
