Pencol® is a settlement control solution for slabs and embankments. It has applications for all sectors of the construction industry and can be used to control settlements in compressible clays, organic soils, chalk and fill. PENNINE have designed and built purpose made rigs to install Pencol® settlement control columns using a displacements auger system. The rigs provide high torque, coupled with large down thrust, to install the auger and laterally displace the soil. On-board computerised instrumentation is used to control the formation of the column, formed by withdrawing the auger whilst simultaneously pumping a cementitious mix specifically design for the project. There is virtually no spoil generated during the process and the levels of noise and vibration are low. The columns are designed to control settlement to achieve a predetermined stiffness ratio by providing a composite soil/column ground modification system. The system can be designed to provide cost effective, environmentally friendly solutions to control settlement for a variety of building and civil engineering projects. Pencols® can be used for:
